Hair transplantation is applied safely to people thanks to the developments in the field of medicine. As people age, thinning, shortening and shedding are seen in the hair. However, it is not possible to limit the underlying factor of these hair problems only with age. For this reason, we can say that there are many factors in the formation of hair problems.
Hair problems can be experienced in women and men, usually due to genetic factors. At the beginning of these hair problems, hair loss comes first. Regardless of its cause or factor, this problem negatively affects people's social lives in terms of aesthetics. For this reason, they prefer hair transplantation to prevent aesthetic problems.
What is Hair Transplantation?
Hair loss is the loss of a large number of hair strands that are different from regeneration. Although this problem manifests itself in certain areas, it causes a bare or sparse haired appearance. This situation negatively affects both women and men in terms of aesthetics and posture. Hair loss due to hormonal and genetic factors can also be caused by sadness and stress. Various diseases, dietary habits and seasonal changes also cause hair loss.
Hair transplantation can be briefly expressed as a hair transplant from another region to the balding area. The main purpose during this transplantation is to treat hair loss. However, the treatment and method varies according to the hair loss and the area where the hair loss occurs. The main goal is to treat the main disease that causes hair loss. Hair loss is eliminated with vitamin, mineral support and fortifying drugs for hair loss. If this treatment method does not give a result, a definite result is achieved with hair transplantation.
We can say that the treatment that gives the best results in hair loss is hair transplantation. Through the techniques used in hair transplantation, healthy hair follicles are taken from the hairy areas called the field. These roots are transferred to sparse or bare areas where hair is shed. Thus, the first step is taken for a more aesthetic appearance.
Methods Used in Hair Transplantation
There are 2 different methods that are successful in hair transplantation. These methods are Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) techniques. In the FUE technique, healthy hair follicles are taken from the hairy areas behind and above the two ears, which are used as donor sites. During this process, specially developed micro motors are used to extract healthy hair follicles from the hairy area. With the help of these micro motors, healthy hair follicles are removed one by one in a circular manner and transferred/planted to the balding skin.
In the FUT method, hair transplantation is performed by using a scalpel from the donor area behind and above the two ears, in other words, by making an incision, the hair follicles are removed. In other words, the tissue strip is removed by incision in order to extract healthy hair follicles. Afterwards, this area where the incision is made is closed by suturing. The tissue strip, which is cut with the help of a scalpel, is examined under a special microscope and healthy hair follicles are extracted.
These two methods differ only in terms of removing healthy hair follicles. The grafts obtained, that is, the transfer of healthy hair follicles, that is, hair transplantation, are the same in both methods. In these methods, the grafts taken are carefully placed in the thin channels opened. For both methods, local anesthesia is applied before starting the procedure.
What Should Be Considered in Hair Transplantation?
Within 6 months after hair transplantation, new healthy hair, which is approximately 80% of the transplanted healthy roots, begins to appear from the transferred areas. It takes an average of 1 year for this growth and healthy hair to be 0 and to show itself by growing. After the completion of this 1 year, all traces of the operation of the planting disappear.
The most important point to be considered in hair transplantation is the front hairline. The front hairline affects the natural appearance a lot. For this reason, the front line is determined by paying attention to details such as the shape of the face, the area where the transplantation will be made, the distance between the nose and the eyebrows. Afterwards, hair transplantation procedures are started.
The holes of the channels to be opened for the sowing process are very important. The canal holes should be the same thickness and size as the healthy hair follicles taken. If the canals are shorter than the grafts, the upper parts of the hair follicles placed in the canal remain on the outer surface. As a result of this situation, the roots are not exposed to environmental factors and the operation does not give the desired result. In addition, the thickness of the channels and grafts must be carefully adjusted. If the thickness is not equal, the naturalness of the aesthetic appearance is lost and an appearance called "grass man" is obtained.
If there is hair loss in the top area and a transfer will be made to that area, it is very important to pay attention to the return areas. In short, in order to obtain a more permanent and natural appearance from hair transplantation, it is necessary to pay attention to the dimensions, thickness, angles and directions of the channels. For this reason, it is very important to place the grafts in an error-free manner by paying attention to the angles and directions in the transfer process at the top. In addition, it should not be forgotten that the experience of the physician who will perform this procedure is of great importance for this procedure. In order to obtain a more efficient and successful result, it is necessary to work with a specialist in the field.
Who Can Have a Hair Transplant?
- People who experience hair loss due to various reasons,
- Persons who are over 24 years old, have no problems in general health, and the donor area from which the hair to be transplanted will be taken is sufficient,
- People who have lost their hair due to burns can also have hair transplantation.
